Against me are a punk band originally from Naples, Florida, and later relocated to Gainesville, Florida. They are known for their distinct, heavily folk-influenced sound and energetic live shows (Spin named them one of the 25 greatest live bands in 2006) Their first full-length album, released on No Idea Records in 2002, was the highly-acclaimed Reinventing Axl Rose. In December 2005, they signed to Sire Records, and released their major label debut, New Wave, on July 10, 2007.

Against Me!'s Reinventing Axl Rose is an impressive debut that manages to combine fist-in-the-air singalong choruses, lagered-up rhythms, and urgent drumbeats with the underground, raw intensity these punks are known for live.
Since the release of its No Idea debut Reinventing Axl Rose Against Me! has generated more buzz than any “punk” band in quite some time. Its mixture of Billy Bragg-ish folk, punk rock, and truly progressive politics, with near-legendary live shows, sets the band apart from its contemporaries in the stagnant punk scene, and, for many people, reaffirmed the viability of the entire genre. The band also attracted the attention of Fat Wreck Chords, who released the group’s latest album, “As The Eternal Cowboy.” While it borrows a good deal from its predecessor and thus doesn’t have quite the same impact, it’s a very good album in its own right.
